Q Ege is located in Ayvalık, in the county of Altınova where the beaches of Ayvalık consist of pristine sandy shores and picturesque surroundings.

Prime location

Ayvalık is a seaside town on the north-western Aegean coast of Turkey. It is a district of Balıkesir Province, adjacent to Izmir; famous for its clean beaches, olives, oxygen rich air and thermal spas, making it an important tourist destination, but undiscovered by mass tourism.

The town center of Ayvalık is surrounded by the magnificent archipelago of the Ayvalık Islands, which face the nearby Greek island of Lesbos.

Besides the unique ambiance of the town it also is a hot spot for scuba diving because of its special red coral. The ancient and historical city of Pergamon (Bergama) which is cited in the Book of Revelation as one of the seven churches of Asia is only 45 km from Altınova.


It was alternatively called Kydonies (Κυδωνίες) by the town’s former Greek population which populated the town till 1923. Ayvalık if famous for its high quality olive oils, the best in Turkey, which are grown and processed for hundreds of year in this region.

The Greek building style can still be found in Ayvalık and on Cunda Island which is connected by a bridge with the mainland. On Cunda you will find famous fish restaurants where you can get introduced to the rakı-balik culture of the region; tapas style, fish, dishes combined with a bottle of Rakı, the traditional Turkish anise spirt.
